Because I knew how uncomfortable the &#039;wallflower&#039; role was, on entering a room I immediately looked for someone who was being what I didn&#039;t want to be.  I went to him immediately with a conversation opener of some sort:  &quot;Surely, you aren&#039;t as bored as you look?&quot;  Never failed, and I met a lot of interesting people.
